About Me
My name is Kaan Emir. I am a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in London and currently in Istanbul.
In my creative practice, I like to design for the human body. My work regularly takes form as wearable objects. I am currently interested in expressing my ideas through the lens of jewellery and metalsmithing as over the years I have observed that it aligns seamlessly with my visions and ideas both aesthetically and conceptually.

In my projects, I like to research and explore themes such as beauty, societal perceptions, self-expression and post-humanism.

My practice often involves drawing from personal emotions and experiences.

As a designer, I'm motivated to improve the ways in which people can express themselves in everyday life. This includes creating tools and accessories for personal use as well as interrogating issues that may limit or hinder peoples' lives.

Stylistically, I like to work in multitude of ways; I am able to find pleasure in things that seem mundane or extravagant, pure or gritty, beautiful or horrific, tacky or chic.

However, I think much of my aesthetic eye is influenced and justified by fashion and fashion history; therefore I am usually interested in exploring unique silhouettes, creating striking and dramatic imagery and working with finer materials.

I like to find beauty in things that are considered ugly, amplify things that are misunderstood and find poetry and definition in things considered meaningless.

Usually my personal time is spent designing and illustrating, consuming and researching media, history and culture, following fashion and other designers and appreciating nature.
